Universal + Wordless

I've had this book on my shelves for over 10 years now. It's one of those books that I just love to flip through when I am struggling to find the right words. Award-winning illustrator and graphic designer Nigel Holmes depicts the things e do every day like you've never seen before. Think IKEA assembly instructions -- wordless, step-by-step diagrams that make the complex completely simple. Flash forward 10 years later and our means of communication is highly influenced now by emoticons, interactions and other iconography. These symbols, these illustrations are the great unifier. They transcend language (for the most part) and communicate through sight. They are both entertaining and educate, in some cases, mere seconds. So what does this mean. Are we losing language or are we gaining new ways to convey concepts universally in a blink of an eye. Image Credit: Truthfacts.com
